Here are some pics of the skate decks Clem and I designed for the party. Congrats to whoever won ‘em!

Can’t wait to make more! Let us know your thoughts
Hi everyone!
First, I want to give a big thanks to everyone who came out this weekend to our launch party at Uptown Records.
It was great to meet so many new friends and hear your thoughts about the shirts.
Bands: If was fun seeing everyone’s acoustic sets. And Boy Climbing Ropes, even though you forgot it was acoustic, you were great as always.
There’s some big news here online, too. We’ve just launched the Twin Horizon shop, and you can now buy our Shanghai DIY shirts. They’re already moving fast and they’re limited edition, so move quickly! If you’ve got any questions about the site, feel free to contact us, either on Facebook, Twitter, or by email.
Found this poem I wrote about 5 years ago when I was home for the summer from college…it’s about being lazy.
A Drummer Should Play the Drums
My drums
sat in the attic
all summer long,
not set up, not even taken
out of the cases.
I saw the potential
trapped in a sleek black wooden shell,
bound by a pockmarked head
and sturdy metal hoops.
I did not set them up.
I heard the spectacular
fills, dancing about the set, and the
slickest of grooves, so deep in the
pocket they’re covered in lint.
I did not play them.
I felt the familiar
tingling in my fingers,
needing to grasp the smooth wooden
sticks, like a junkie out of smack,
every time the conversation turned to music.
I did not pick them up.
How do I still call myself a drummer?
one who, for an entire season,
did nothing of the sort!
Here’s a little look at what I’ve cooked up for my skate deck we’ll be raffling off at our launch party this Saturday. Clem and I have each done a design, and we’re printing just two of each one.
I unfortunately am back in the States for a family emergency and won’t be able to go…but please go and make the party a fucking amazing evening for me!
Check this video of my newest band, Death to Ponies! Our entire set from our show at Yuyintang on Saturday, April 7th. It was our 2nd show ever.
Death to Ponies is an ongoing collaboration between Death to Giants (Nichols – bassist of Rainbow Danger Club – and me) and the Acid Pony Club, a DJ/producer duo. Currently, our music is 100% improvisational. Enjoy!
You heard it here first!
After five back-breaking nights of printing, our first line of tees, “Shanghai DIY”, is ready to rock with a party at DJ Sacco’s Uptown Record Store.
If you’ve been following our site, you already know the deal. Inspired by some of Shanghai’s independent rock acts, Ivan and Clem have designed five T-shirts to keep you looking fresh for all the summer’s best shows. On May 12, we’re launching “Shanghai DIY” with a party featuring performances by all five bands represented on the shirts: Rainbow Danger Club, Boys Climbing Ropes, Friend or Foe, Stegosaurus? and Moon Tyrant.
We’ll also be raffling off a limited number of hand-printed skate decks, and the first sixty guests will be treated to a free Vedett Extra White — so get there early! While you’re there, you can also browse DJ Sacco’s collection of record players and vinyl.
The party starts at 4pm and will continue until 8pm.

Music-Makers of Shanghai,
It’s time to begin working on the next installment of We Are Shanghai! We’re inviting you to submit a song for Volume 2, to be released later this year. Volume 1 was well-received, and we’re looking forward to putting together a stellar lineup of bands and artists for the next one.
Here’s the deal: You have until the end of June to submit to us a high-quality .wav file of a song of yours. We’d prefer it if songs were under 5 minutes in length, but that’s not a hard and fast rule. Last time, we had more submissions than we could use, and we’re really hoping to get even more this time around. We’re looking for good songs from a wide spectrum of genres. We want songs and artists that represent what’s happening in Shanghai and who are actively shaping the city’s music scene.
Also, if you are a graphic artist and would like to contribute to the cover art, let us know! Please send your submissions and other questions to jc@twinhorizon.com.
Thanks,
Bren, Nichols, Adam, JC and Ivan
